蒲草是生長在淮陽的一種野生蔬菜，其假莖白嫩部分（即蒲菜）和地下匍匐莖尖端的幼嫩部分（即草芽）可以食用，味道清爽可口；老熟的匍匐莖和短縮莖可以煮食或作飼料；雄花花粉俗稱“蒲黃”，具有藥用和滋補功能。蒲草是重要的造紙和人造棉的原料，還可以用來編織蒲席、坐墊等生活用品。
      
    水生植物香蒲葉綠穗奇，常用于點綴園林水池、湖畔，構筑水景。全株是造紙的好原料。葉稱蒲草可用于編織。莖、葉、花皆可入藥。蒲棒可用以照明，雌花序上的毛稱蒲絨，�？勺髡硇酢Ｄ垩糠Q蒲菜，其味鮮美，可食用。
