桑白皮以其色白而得名。又名桑皮、桑根白皮等。以身干、皮厚、色白、無粗皮、粉性足者為佳。味甘、微苦，性寒。       
       
    桑白皮具清肺平喘、行水消腫之功能，主治肺熱咳嗽喘息，吐血、水腫脹滿，小便不利等癥。河南桑白皮以太康縣所產質地柔軟堅韌，色白汁足，藥力最佳。




    White Mulberry Root-bark is named after its white color with another name of Root Bark of White Mulberry which tastes sweet, a little bitter and is in cold nature. The best ones are those with dried bodies, thick but not rough skins, white color and enough mealiness.
