洛寧，素有“綠竹之鄉”之美譽。其淡竹栽培歷史悠久（距今已有4000余年），北魏曾有“山川澄秀，竹木蓊郁”之記載；栽植地域廣大（現有7000余畝竹園），真是“竹林蔥郁千山翠，綠海蒼茫萬頃濤”。淡竹因其桿高挺秀碧綠，姿態婆裟秀麗，幽雅別致，風趣獨特被列為著名園林觀賞樹種。神靈寨國家森林公園金門河景區的金門韻竹古時就被譽為“永寧八景”之一。春筍吐秀，夏蔭鳥鳴，秋葉含情，冬竿傲雪。人們在欣賞的同時，也留下了諸多吟詠。《金門竹韻》曰：“金門翠竹滿山顛，卻勝淇泉于渭川。管取伶倫非率爾，聲諧律呂自天然。風簧響應銀笙葉，雅韻疑從玉管傳。更有知音張建白，構廬曾結此君緣”。呂俊恒《金門山曉望》曰：“隱隱有冥思，高高八九峰。云濤翻海日，涌出金芙蓉。地嘯千巖竹，天鳴萬壑鐘。右軍遺片石，風雨護蛟龍”。
