郟縣大銅器主要分布在河南省郟縣，輻射到周邊縣市。郟縣銅器始于三國時期，后傳入民間，多用于求神、祭天、喚雨、驅邪消災、節日慶典等大型活動儀式。是中國古代民族民間藝術之珍品，是我國北方打擊樂種的典型代表，是世界上最響亮的打擊樂器和樂器最多的打擊樂種。    

    西平大銅器至少也有300多年歷史，它至今還保留了100多支傳統曲牌，長期以來形成了獨特的地域風格特點，是非常值得保護和傳承的優秀民族民間文化。自我國青銅器被普遍應用以后，這一獨特而富有中原文化特色的以銅器為主的打擊樂形式，具有典型的中原傳統文化特征。郟縣大銅器是以銅制樂器和大鼓組成的集體打擊型民間藝術形式。
      
    郟縣大銅器是以銅制樂器和大鼓組成的集體打擊型民間藝術形式。河南遂平《大銅器》是十多件大小鑼、鼓、鐃、镲配合敲打起舞，氣勢非凡，還能通過抑揚頓挫的樂音和舞者的神情動態表現一定內容。西平縣《大銅器》所用器樂一般有大鼓、大鐃、大镲、邊鼓等，演奏人員15——50人不等，演奏起來音樂洪亮，形象生動鮮明，豐富多彩，演奏技巧性強且表演形式多種多樣，深受群眾喜愛群眾喜愛。
     
    近年來，由于資金投入不足，專業人才匱乏，又無高層專家指導，造成銅器隊伍數量減少，規模縮小，水平下滑，活動次數歷年呈下降趨勢。

     
    Jiaxian Copper Ware lies on the center of Jiaxian County, Henan Province and radiates to surrounding cities. Jiaxian Copper Ware created in Sanguo Era and mostly used to big ceremonies like praying to God, sacrificing to Heaven, praying for rain, removing disasters, celebrating festivals, etc. It's a treasure of Chinese ancient folk art, a typical of hitting instruments in the north and is also a hitting music which uses the loudest and most hitting instruments.  
    
    Xiping Copper Ware also has a history of at least 300 years and still reserves over 1000 kinds of traditional tunes. It has formed distinctive local features and becomes an excellent folk culture valuable to be protected.    
     
    After the widely use of copper ware in our country, this unique hitting instrument music has had the characteristic of typical traditional culture in central land. Among various forms of copper ware plays, Jiaxian Copper Ware consists of copper instruments and bass drum and is a collectivity folk art; Suiping Copper Ware is played with over ten kinds of small gong, drum, surname, etc, united together and accompanying with melodious music and players' face expressions so that they will produce extraordinary and express some meaning; Xiping Copper Ware chooses bass drum, small cymbals, big surname and others as major instruments, which produce an effect of loud-voiced, vivid-figured, colorful, skillful feelings. It is well welcomed by the common people.       
      
    However, recently years, groups to play Copper Ware are decreasing and declining for lack of money, professional talents and experts. It's eager to be protected.
