鄲城縣境屬黃淮平原，地處黃河沖積扇南緣。地勢平坦，土質粘重，適且多種農作物及林木生長。 本縣屬暖溫帶半濕潤性季風氣候區，氣候溫和，四季分明，日照充足，雨量充沛，霜期不長。為當地各種生物的繁衍成長，提供了極為良好的條件 。水生植物的吳臺蓮藕，以節長、粗壯、脆嫩、味甜著稱，清代《鹿邑縣志》早有記載，是當地土特產之一，每年入冬至初春，內販外運，不絕于市。

Among various plants, Wutai Lotus Root is a famous one, which enjoys a high reputation for its long knobs, strong bodies, crisp and tender taste and sweet flavor. According to Tangyi County Record in Qing Dynasty, it was a local specialty and in every harvest period it sold very well.
