丹皮，中藥名。為毛茛科植物牡丹干燥根皮。產于安徽、山東等地。秋季采挖根部，除去細根，剝取根皮，曬干。生用或炒用。《本草綱目》：“滋陰降火，解斑毒，利咽喉，通小便血滯。后人乃專以黃蘗治相火，不知丹皮之功更勝也。赤花者利，白花者補，人亦罕悟，宜分別之。”現代研究，所含牡丹酚及其以外的糖苷類成分均有抗炎作用；牡丹皮的甲醇提取物有抑制血小板作用；牡丹酚有鎮靜、降溫、解熱、鎮痛、解痙等中樞抑制作用及抗動脈粥樣硬化、利尿、抗潰瘍等作用。
      
    宜陽丹皮根粗、肉厚、色白、粉足，藥用效能好，完全達到國家藥典標準。1 9 6 8 年，河南省醫藥總公司把宜陽定為丹皮重點發展縣。1 9 8 4 年，國家醫藥總局又把宜陽丹皮列為國家醫藥科研保密項目，不經國家醫藥局批準，不準出口。

According to modern medical researches, paeonol it contains has anti-inflammatory, calming people, cooling, antipyretic, analgesia as well as anti-atherosclerosis, diuresis, resisting ulcer and other functions. In 1984, it was listed as a national medicine-research secret project by the State Medicine Administration.
