東漳鄉地處中牟縣城北部，水面面積1387公頃，水面利用率達到70％。近幾年來，全鄉大力調整優化產業結構，打破以往單一的養殖模式，走“名、優、特、新”的路子，在調整淡水魚養殖結構的同時，大力發展高附加值的水產養殖業，重點發展以雁鳴湖大閘蟹為主的特種水產養殖。
      
    大閘蟹養殖，立足于雁鳴湖水草資源豐富的優勢，采用了天然放養的方式，走無公害標準化生產模式，因蟹肥、味美、肉嫩，在舉辦的雁鳴湖大閘蟹美食節上，受到了廣大食客的青睞，創出了“雁鳴湖大閘蟹”這一名優品牌。
      
    由于“雁鳴湖大閘蟹”商標的注冊，群眾的養殖積極性不斷高漲，同時東漳鄉黨委積極為養殖戶排憂解難，在資金、技術、料物等方面為群眾提供了服務。目前，大閘蟹養殖面積已達8600畝，其中天然放養的有8000畝，稻田養蟹6000畝，年產大閘蟹41萬公斤。
      
    另外，東漳鄉已規劃建立中牟縣東漳鄉雁鳴湖大閘蟹養殖基地，占地500畝，總投資125萬元。該項目真正立足于生態環境保護，遵循經濟發展規律，有選擇、有重點、有目的培育良種和技術推廣，堅持以市場為導向，以大力發展水產養殖為主題，實現高效農業集約化經營為目的。項目建成后，一方面擴大了雁鳴湖生態景區的面積，擴大了鳥類棲息的場所，另一方面示范帶動了萬畝養殖基地規模發展集約化經營，讓城市居民一年四季都能吃到新鮮的雁鳴湖大閘蟹。
