張仲景是東漢著名醫(yī)學家，醫(yī)術精堪，醫(yī)德高尚，他博覽群書，廣采眾長，所著《傷寒雜病論》開創(chuàng)了傳統(tǒng)中醫(yī)學辯證施治的先河，奠定了中醫(yī)臨床診療理論體系，成為醫(yī)家必讀之經(jīng)典，對中醫(yī)藥學的發(fā)展影響巨大，流行海內外，所載方藥至今被廣泛應用，被后世醫(yī)家尊奉為“醫(yī)圣”。
          
    對張仲景的祭祀活動由來已久，至今延續(xù)。活動內容豐富，既有各地醫(yī)藥學家的朝圣祭祀、義診施藥，也有醫(yī)林會館的學術講堂、座談交流，還有當?shù)匕傩占漓雴査帯⑵砀＜{祥，亦有儒家文人的賦詩而歌。到現(xiàn)代，中醫(yī)藥學界仍在南陽召開國際或全國不同類型的張仲景學術思想研討會，當?shù)卣�府多年來都舉辦張仲景醫(yī)藥文化節(jié)等，吸引了國內外大批的中醫(yī)藥專家學者和官員、商人，有力的促進了南陽中醫(yī)藥產(chǎn)業(yè)的發(fā)展。
   
    南陽醫(yī)圣祠是張仲景墓、祠所在地，是供奉、紀念張仲景的場所，每年的祭祀活動都在醫(yī)圣祠舉行。
       
    該項目有較大的人文價值、生命科學價值、民間藝術價值、國粹保護價值、民俗傳承價值和現(xiàn)代應用價值，對弘揚民族優(yōu)秀文化和傳承民間文化，尤其是對傳承和發(fā)揚張仲景醫(yī)學思想，擴大其醫(yī)學影響，促進傳統(tǒng)中醫(yī)學的發(fā)展具有重要意義。


   
    Zhang Zhongjing is a very famous medical scientist in Eastern Han Dynasty and is respected as Medical Sage, whose significant work Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous Diseases has become a scripture every doctor will read.      

    Nanyang Medical Sage Ancestral Hall is place for feting and remembering Zhang, where his tomb and ancestral hall lays. Fete activities are held there every year, which is handed down for many years and includes plentiful content. Nowadays, Chinese medicine academics hold national or international academic and ideological discussions in Nanyang City, attracting a multitude of experts, officials and merchants which promotes its development of Chinese medicine industry. 
  
    This fete activity has large humanity, scientific, folk artistic, protective, inherit and practical values. Furthermore, it has a significant meaning for propagating and inheriting Chinese excellent folk culture and Zhang's medical views, enlarging his medical influence as well as improving traditional Chinese medical science.
