阿膠，又名驢皮膠、阿膠珠、傳致膠、盆復(fù)膠、系用驢的皮去毛后用清水熬制而成的黑色膠質(zhì)塊，是中醫(yī)常用的藥物之一，也是食用的佳品。主產(chǎn)于山東、浙江、北京及我省的禹縣、周口等地區(qū)。山東產(chǎn)者最著名，浙江產(chǎn)量最大。
      
    阿膠的生產(chǎn)和使用在我國已有悠久的歷史，《神農(nóng)本草經(jīng)》已將阿膠列為上品，最初是用牛皮作原料熬制。其后《本草拾遺》中開始主張用驢皮熬制。此后，阿膠逐漸改用驢皮為原料。明李時(shí)珍在《本草綱目》中正式稱驢皮膠為“阿膠”，而牛皮膠改稱“黃明膠”一直沿用至今。
      
     阿膠是我省名貴藥材，素以之地純正而久負(fù)盛名。阿膠性平、味甘、微溫、無毒，入肺、肝腎經(jīng)。主要功能是滋陰補(bǔ)血、安胎止血、潤燥等。現(xiàn)代醫(yī)學(xué)認(rèn)為，阿膠的醫(yī)用價(jià)值和營養(yǎng)價(jià)值很高，另外阿膠還具有補(bǔ)血和抗休克的作用，阿膠作為河南名貴中藥材行銷全國各地。
